This is the first of a series of blogs that will talk about just anything worthwhile- stories, religion, politics, social issues, technology, philosophy, promotions, etc, etc.

Today I intend telling a story about the wise and persevering ant who nobody gave a dog's chance to push a ball of kenkey (an african food) up a tree.

Once upon a time there lived a little ant who went out to look for food. He lived in a tree with its two little kids. She and the kids had run out of food because all their reserve was depleted. Little ant had no choice but to climd down the tree to hunt for food or risk starving to death with her kids.

After a long search she found a ball of kenkey at a spot where some people who had more than enough to eat had abandoned it. "Thank Good Heavens" she soliloquized. Her next challenge was how to move this ball up the tree and to her kids. She thought of a plan. She would push the ball to the foot of the tree and then take a bite at it to get smaller  bits and pieces and form roller balls to make the task of pushing the ball easier.

Having formulated her plan she had to put it into execution. Hump by hump, she got smaller balls formed and started pushing the balls up one after the other. Fortunately, some water was close by so to smoothen the climb of the ball she would occasionally sip some water and pour it over the ball. Needless to say that when she got the first ball over she gave it to the kids who were at this point crying for food ! With the crying issue resloved she continued her up and down climb with little roller balls until finally she got the last one up !

The determination (perseverance) and wisdom of this little ant cannot be said enough. She has shown that with these virtues no challenge is unsurmountable. If we cannot do everything all at once, at least we can resolve not to give up but rather to do it hump by hump and length by length - a little at a time - and we shall be surprised how much is achieved eventually.
